Seaweed's Sentiment is Julie Blitzer's first book: a collection of 35 haiga (haiku poetry combined with photographs taken by the author). The compilation is organized into five sections–Acknowledging, Awakening, Believing, Expanding, and Remembering, each containing seven haiku. The poems' seventeen syllables convey reflections and expressions of what Julie believes to be true, particularly about personal development. Most of the images are of nature, but others are ordinary scenes or objects that inspired Julie. Given the haiku's brevity, readers can enjoy this book in one sitting, or in smaller doses over time.
